Lawanda Hodges

Lawanda Hodges is an accomplished trial attorney who has served as lead counsel in more than 40 complex jury trials and co-chaired several others. As a former Senior Assistant District Attorney, Lawanda was awarded the 2007 Lewis Slaton Award for the highest achieving prosecutor in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit and has received subsequent awards for her ability to manage, resolve, or try to verdict complex cases. She also earned the 2010 Prosecuting Attorney of the Year Award for the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. Prior to honing her trial skills as a prosecutor, Lawanda was an associate at a large international firm in Atlanta.

Active in civic affairs, Lawanda is a member of the board of directors of NobleHeroes, a nonprofit organization that assists severely injured or disabled public safety officials, and KAVA (Keeping a Village Alive), an organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life in rural African villages. Lawanda is a member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Lawyers, and is an active member of her community and church.

Lawanda is licensed to practice in Georgia and the District of Columbia. She is admitted to all state courts in Georgia, the Northern District of Georgia, and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.

Lawanda earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2002, where she served as Assistant Editor of the Constitutional Law Journal. She graduated magna cum laude from Spelman College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

In her spare time, Lawanda enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and most importantly, chasing behind her two young sons.
