Matthew S. Knoop

Matt focuses his practice on the preparation and taking of cases to trial in state and federal courts throughout the country. Matt primarily represents product manufacturers in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death litigation and also regularly handles employment, business litigation, and intellectual property matters. Matt has extensive litigation experience, having taken over 100 depositions of plaintiffs and their experts, investigating officers, eyewitnesses, emergency response personnel, doctors, accountants, and insurance adjustors.

Prior to joining Ashe, Rafuse & Hill, Matt practiced for over four years at a large international law firm based in Atlanta. He received his B.A. in History in 1998 from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. After graduating from Centre, Matt managed the marketing of several multi-million dollar animal nutrition products for an international manufacturer in Lexington, Kentucky. Matt then moved to Atlanta and taught English to refugees and other displaced individuals for several years. In total, Matt taught over 1000 students from over 70 countries worldwide. Matt graduated magna cum laude from the Georgia State University College of Law in 2004. He speaks proficient Spanish and travels to Bogota, Colombia as often as he can with his wife Jeannette and their two sons, Jack and David. Matt and his family live in Avondale Estates.

Representative experience:

  • Nationwide representation of manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, and insurance companies in the automotive, aviation, and commercial and consumer product industries.
  • Assisted in trials to defense verdicts of two multi-week catastrophic personal injury cases on behalf of one of the world's largest car manufacturers.
  • Affirmance on appeal of the exclusion of 38 allegedly similar other incidents in catastrophic personal injury litigation.
  • Affirmance on appeal of fraudulent joinder removal in the Eleventh Circuit.
